As I sat down to write this devotional today I came to a realization. I’m running low on ideas. Not just for these devotionals (although some of you might say, “yeah, I can tell”), but also for my day-to-day life. I’ll answer emails, reach out to my youth, plan our...
I have been, through no desire of my own, been going on more walks with my wife lately. There I will be, enjoying my puzzles, books, or Netflix, and suddenly, “We should go on a walk!” I’ll hear her say, very excitedly. “The sun out, it looks...
There are two times on the Christian Calendar that are really difficult for me: Advent and Good Friday. Good Friday seems like a logical “difficult for me” kind of time, with us mourning the betrayal of Jesus, his death on the cross, his disciples abandoning him,...
I don’t know about the rest of you, but this quarantine has been an interesting exercise in slowing down for me. To date, I’ve learned four new songs on the guitar that I can now play from memory, I’ve done two puzzles with my wife and we’re working on a 2000 piece...
Never before (at least in my lifetime) has something shut down the world like this. I’ve experienced large moments where it felt like the world stopped: the shooting at Columbine, 9/11, Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, etc. I’ve even experienced...

On Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20, Children’s and Youth Ministries will host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Community Food and Household Essentials Drive. The MLK Day of Service is an annual event held nationally to encourage communities to take action and build the beloved community MLK spoke of.
All are invited to get involved by dropping off donations in the Lobby at church on Sunday, January 19, before or after worship or by participating in the drive-through community drive on Monday, January 20, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Walk-up donations are welcome and we’ll have volunteers available to help unload donations. We hope you can participate! All donations will go to local pantries.
When deciding what to donate, here are some helpful hints:
Household items such as paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent are not eligible for purchase with a Link card
Consider pop-top lids – sometimes people do not have a can opener
Olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and other spices can transform a meal
Remember items like Hamburger Helper are only good if you have ground beef
Baking mixes that require only water are good
Coffee is a luxury
Sugar and flour are always needed
Kraft Mac and Cheese requires milk and butter – consider Velveeta that comes with the sauce
Questions about MLK Day, contact Rev. Rebekah Anderson.
