Friends, nothing today feels easy. In fact, many of us, most of us, have never experienced times quite like these. I can’t pretend to have answers when all I have are questions. I can’t offer solace when I’m overwhelmed with pain. I can’t arrogantly amplify my voice...
It has been a privilege over the past few weeks to share my love of writing with you through these devotions. Sometimes the inspiration has come easily; my fingers seemed to fly over the keyboard as the ideas moved from my heart to my brain and became words and...
I invite you to take a moment to consider where we are right now. There are the obvious mile markers – we’ve spent 60 or so days in an unprecedented statewide stay-at-home order; the school year is coming to the weirdest end any of us have ever known; daily briefings...
From almost the moment we all unwillingly stepped into the unknowns that the COVID-19 pandemic brought into our lives, I have been struggling with the word “should”. Have you ever considered how powerful that word is? It carries the unbearable weight of shame, as in...
While stuck at home these past few weeks, my husband, Eric, and I have enjoyed watching Schitt’s Creek on Netflix. It follows the (mis)adventures of a wealthy family who has lost almost everything due to the dealings of their shady business manager. The pilot episode...

On Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20, Children’s and Youth Ministries will host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Community Food and Household Essentials Drive. The MLK Day of Service is an annual event held nationally to encourage communities to take action and build the beloved community MLK spoke of. All are invited to get involved by dropping off donations in the Lobby at church on Sunday, January 19, before or after worship or by participating in the drive-through community drive on Monday, January 20, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Walk-up donations are welcome and we’ll have volunteers available to help unload donations. We hope you can participate! All donations will go to local pantries.
When deciding what to donate, here are some helpful hints:
Household items such as paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent are not eligible for purchase with a Link card
Consider pop-top lids – sometimes people do not have a can opener
Olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and other spices can transform a meal
Remember items like Hamburger Helper are only good if you have ground beef
Baking mixes that require only water are good
Coffee is a luxury
Sugar and flour are always needed
Kraft Mac and Cheese requires milk and butter – consider Velveeta that comes with the sauce
Questions about MLK Day, contact Rev. Rebekah Anderson.
