“So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy...

On Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20, Children’s and Youth Ministries will host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Community Food and Household Essentials Drive. The MLK Day of Service is an annual event held nationally to encourage communities to take action and build the beloved community MLK spoke of. All are invited to get involved by dropping off donations in the Lobby at church on Sunday, January 19, before or after worship or by participating in the drive-through community drive on Monday, January 20, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Walk-up donations are welcome and we’ll have volunteers available to help unload donations. We hope you can participate! All donations will go to local pantries.
When deciding what to donate, here are some helpful hints:
Household items such as paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent are not eligible for purchase with a Link card
Consider pop-top lids – sometimes people do not have a can opener
Olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and other spices can transform a meal
Remember items like Hamburger Helper are only good if you have ground beef
Baking mixes that require only water are good
Coffee is a luxury
Sugar and flour are always needed
Kraft Mac and Cheese requires milk and butter – consider Velveeta that comes with the sauce
Questions about MLK Day, contact Rev. Rebekah Anderson.
