Every year, First Pres invites a speaker for their Annual Speaker Series. For 2022, our speaker was Susan Burton, a criminal justice reform advocate who created a series of halfway houses for formerly incarcerated women. Her efforts not only stem from a deep love for those who have been cast aside, but also from personal experience.
As someone who was caught in the grips of the criminal justice system, she understands the struggles women face as they attempt to leave behind their past to embrace a brighter future.
