Not My Problem: Talking About Issues We Like to Ignore
with Rev. Alex Lang

Have you ever had someone confront you with an issue or a cause and thought to yourself, “How is this my problem?” Even if you think the cause is worthy, very often we find excuses for why we are unable or unwilling to help that cause. As one individual, I can only do so much to make a difference in the world, so why try?

This attitude might be sufficient for those outside the Christian faith, but it is not sufficient for those who follow Jesus. The Christian faith forces us to examine all aspects of our lives and ask the question: are my attitudes, beliefs, and actions around this issue consistent with Jesus’ understanding of the world?

The goal of this class is to challenge our assumptions about issues that we like to ignore. We are going to explore what the Bible has to say about these issues, why we should care, and how changing our mindset about how we approach these issues can have a huge impact on the world around us.
