Adult Education and Study Groups

First Pres offers many ways for adults to interact and grow in relationship with one another as they grow in faith in God. Whether it’s a Sunday morning Christian education class or a midweek Bible study or discussion group, we hope you will dive right in and get involved.

Daily Opportunities

Adult Sunday School with Pastor Judy
Sundays Through April 14
9:00-9:50 am in the Boardroom
Contact: Alex Lang
Join Rev. Judy Hockenberry for our Adult Sunday School! We will use materials from the study, “An Acceptable Fast.” The study covers Old Testament lessons that focus on six themes of Christian discipline: voicing gratitude, taking the long view, choosing well, accepting responsibility, welcoming the future, and trusting God through times of conflict. Our goal is to spend the Sundays of Lent learning practices that cultivate a life of contentment, one that is honoring to God and generous to our neighbors.

Coffee: Grounds for Discussion
Sundays, September - May

10:30-11:30 am in Room 110/112, Christian Education Wing
Contact: Kelly Dean
Drop in for coffee and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere as we discuss today’s issues in the light of faith. This year’s focus is prayer, which we will explore through a variety of lessons. A main emphasis will be on learning about historical figures throughout time whose prayers were answered. Our reference book will be Prayers That Changed History, by Tricia Goyer.

Going Deeper: Sermon Discussion Group
