Internationally renowned classical pianist and Oscar-nominated recording artist, Martin Jones will perform a special concert at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 in the church’s sanctuary.
“Martin Jones is one of Britain’s most highly regarded solo pianists and we are extremely excited to welcome him,” said Rev. Alex Lang. “This concert is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and enjoy the fellowship and community First Presbyterian Church provides, particularly as we head into the holiday season.”
For this concert, Jones will perform Jonathan Newmark’s “Piano Sonata IV Fugue”, William Neil’s “Preludes 1 – 4”, a special piece from composer Bruce Mahin, as well as works by Shostakovich, Debussy, and Ravel.
Jones first gained international attention in 1968 when he received the Dame Myra Hess Award. He made his London debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and his New York debut at Carnegie Hall the same year and has been in demand for recitals and concerto performances on both sides of the Atlantic ever since.
Jones also performed the piano part in Percy Grainger's “Bridal Lullaby” and “Mock Morris” in the Oscar-nominated soundtrack for Howards End.
