Stephen Ministry is one-to-one ministry by trained, caring lay ministers who have responded to Christ’s call to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
Stephen Ministry is for loneliness; loss of a spouse; retirement changes; unemployment; despair; childbirth; hospitalization; separation and divorce; grief; terminal illness; being homebound; most of life’s struggles.
Stephen Ministry provides someone who cares, supports, listens, and shares. Stephen Ministers are not counselors, advice-givers, or casual visitors. They are there to provide a listening, supportive ear.
Anyone going through difficult times who needs someone to care, listen, and share God’s love on a one-to-one, confidential basis can benefit from having a Stephen Minister.
To learn more about receiving care or becoming a Stephen Minister, contact Rev. Judy Hockenberry or call the church office at 847-255-5900.
