Prayer & Care

Jesus focused on caring for all he met, and through his actions, he began a movement that changed the world. Our model is Jesus. We strive to show compassion to everyone, both inside and outside the congregation. Like Jesus, our goal is to change the world, one person at a time.

Activities at First Pres that focus on caring for others include an active ministry of prayer, the support of Stephen Ministers, and the caring efforts of the Board of Deacons.

Prayer Concerns & Pastoral Needs

If you or someone you know needs to be uplifted in prayer, or if you have a death in the family, an anticipated surgery, the birth of a new baby, or if you or a loved one are struggling, your pastors and church family want to be there to support you.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is one-to-one ministry by trained, caring lay ministers who have responded to Christ’s call to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring and confidential relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.

Board of Deacons

The deacons of First Presbyterian Church work actively in a variety of ways to serve the needs of the congregation. All members and friends of First Pres are invited to join in one or more of the deacon ministries.
