Choosing Love

Lighthouses

Scripture: 1Corinthians 12:12-26; Proverbs 4:10-15

During the spring and summer, we are doing a sermon series called, Through a Mirror Darkly, which is based on the verse from 1 Corinthians 13:12: “For now we see in a mirror, darkly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.” The idea behind this series is that we will look at various themes that are universal to the human experience.

Each week we will take a different theme and connect it with different stories from Humans of New York, a Facebook blog created by Brandon Stanton. Since Humans of New York draws on such a wide range of people and perspectives, these are people who will often look and feel very different from us, but who mirror the experiences we all face as human beings. My hope is that these sermons will inspire you to look deep within yourself and question the drivers behind your actions so that God might create within you a motivation for change.

The connecting theme of all of these stories we will hear on Sunday is how these people are trying to be lighthouses for the younger generations. Lighthouses are always located at an important or dangerous place where boats will have a tough time navigating the seas. They help guide ships to safety so that they don’t wreck and sink into the sea.

This Sunday we are going to talk about how God calls on us to be role models for the next generation so they can reach their potential! Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
